Foreign Affairs

Where I Stand

It doesn’t take much to see that we live in an increasingly dangerous world. Whether it is a constant threat of terrorism, emboldened enemies seeking nuclear weapons and the development of ballistic missile capabilities, or dictators using chemical weapons on their own innocent civilians, it is clear that U.S. leadership in the world is absolutely critical.

My international experience of living and doing business in the Middle East and Asia has been invaluable in my role on the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on the Middle East and North Africa, as well as the Subcommittee on Europe and Eurasia. With those assignments, I am on the front lines of U.S. foreign policy in some of the most critical and troubled regions of the world.

I am a strong supporter of our most important ally in the Middle East — Israel. Not only does Israel share the American values of freedom and Democracy, but Israel is our most important partner in preventing Iran from becoming a nuclear power and maintain some stability in the Middle East.

I am working hard on the Foreign Affairs Committee to ensure that countries like China respect American companies’ intellectual property and trade secrets. I am a strong proponent of free trade and also believe our trading partners must play by the same set of rules.
